Many students have problems understanding the concept of the equation of a line, but the concept is very simple once the student can see example problems that are worked step-by-step. The slope describes how settp the line is, and the y-intercept simply tells us where the line crosses the y-axis.
These two pieces of information are all that is needed in order to write down the equation that describes all points that fall on the line.
