Detailed Description In this course, we begin to discuss applications of chemical reactions to a very important class of chemistry problems - reactions in aqueous solutions. First, we discuss aqueous solutions and ion concentrations and teach by worked example problems how to calculation ion concentrations in solution. Next, we introduce the concept of an acid and a base, how to classify acids and bases, and why they are important in chemistry. We discuss how acids and bases react, what they produce, and how to perform calculations for titration problems with acids and bases. Numerous example problems are worked step by step to give the student practice and confidence with acid-base reactions. Next, we teach how to predict if a substance will be soluble in water or not based on its chemical formula. This is important for the next topic, which is precipitation reactions. In this type of reaction, the student will predict which of the products will be insoluble and thus form a precipitate. We'll cover net ionic equations for aqueous solutions and give the students many opportunities to practice. All concepts are taught by fully worked example problems to teach students the most effective methods to solve chemistry problems! How are the MathTutorDVD.com line of DVDs different? The answer is simple. Most instruction involves a lengthy discussion of the theory before instructing the student in how to solve problems. In the vast majority of the cases the student quickly gets bored and frustrated by the time he or she starts to solve the problems. This course, in contrast, teaches all of the concepts by working fully worked problems step-by-step, which is a much more engaging way to learn. Exceptional value and affordability. MathTutorDVD.com believes in providing value for our customers. This is a 10 Hour DVD course. This entire DVD costs less than an hour of an in-home tutor, and you may rewatch the lessons as many times as needed to master the material!
What is our teaching style like? All topics on this DVD are taught by working example problems. There are no traditional lectures of background material that won't help you solve problems and improve your skills. We believe in teaching-by-doing and that is what you will receive by watching this DVD. Undetermined coefficients is explained, for example, by working many problems in step-by-step detail. We begin with the easier problems and work our way up to the harder problems. The student immediately gains confidence, does not get bored, and quickly feels like he or she can conquer the material. This method is extremely powerful and has proven itself time and again. Perhaps most importantly, problem solving skills are honed early on that will help with homework and taking exams even after watching the very first lesson. We Invite You To Read Our Feedback! |
